Litigation Support and Expert Testimony

Litigation Support services include compiling and critically reviewing environmental work performed by others, performing targeted data analysis, and identifying key strengths and weaknesses of each party’s environmental case. Our staff have been involved in numerous and varied environmental cases and have the training and experience to function as an essential part of the litigation team.

GeoInsight’s litigation support services vary widely with the nature of the case and the needs of the client. Examples of services performed include:

  • reviewing pertinent documents and compiling and evaluating relevant data;
  • researching key technical issues likely to affect the outcome of a case;
  • comparing work performed with appropriate benchmarks, such as regulatory standards or standards of practice;
  • developing strategies for questioning opposing experts; and
  • preparing trial exhibits for communicating complex technical ideas to decision makers.

Expert Testimony involves the clear communication of technical opinions in written reports and at depositions, arbitration hearings, and trial. GeoInsight’s principals and senior staff have broad experience serving as expert witnesses for cases involving environmental and geotechnical issues. When providing testimony at trial, GeoInsight’s experts strive to communicate technical concepts that are understandable to decision makers and defensible under cross-examination.

GeoInsight can provide expert testimony in a variety of areas, including:

  • evaluating the cause and origin of environmental contamination;
  • estimating costs for site investigation and remediation;
  • predicting fate and transport of environmental contaminants;
  • evaluating the application and effectiveness of remediation technologies; and
  • providing opinions on geotechnical engineering issues such as foundation damage, settlement, drainage, vibration damage, and site work construction cost claims.
