The Right Level of Emergency Preparedness

We work with owners, facility managers, and other staff members to develop appropriate levels of response to emergencies. We customize awareness and emergency response training for specific operations and release scenarios at your facility. Our facility-specific plans include responses to:

• The availability and capabilities of your internal and external resources, and
• Regulatory requirements.   

Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plans

Any facility having an aggregate oil storage volume of 1,320 gallons (55-gallon containers or larger) requires a Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan. The SPCC Plan must provide for proper management and storage of oil-containing vessels.

Contingency Planning

Depending on the storage, use, and/or location of oil and hazardous materials, facilities may be required to prepare emergency response and contingency plans. The overall objectives of contingency planning are to develop management strategies for the storage and release of hazardous materials and enable effective decision-making for response personnel.

If more than one emergency response and/or contingency plan is required for a single facility, the United States Environmental Protection Agency encourages the development of an Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP). Generally, an IPC is prepared to minimize duplicity among multiple plans. This eliminates confusion for facility first responders and improves coordination between facility response personnel and local, state, and federal emergency response personnel.
