TSCA: Background and Purpose

A clean-up of a spill, release, or other form of unauthorized disposal is strictly regulated based on the source concentration and the date of the spill. Enacted in 1976 (40 CFR 761), TSCA regulates the manufacture, distribution, use, and disposal of specific chemical substances.  The PCB Mega Rule Amendments of the TSCA were issued in 1998 and included PCB remediation regulations.
