Selecting and implementing a remedial technology is one of the most important project decisions you will make. GeoInsight’s experience in applying and maintaining these remedial technologies extends across a diverse range of projects and releases. Our engineers, geologists, and remedial technicians have analyzed and implemented remedial technologies for projects associated with the release of:
- Chlorinated solvents
- Petroleum hydrocarbons (including gasoline, diesel, kerosene, #2 fuel oil, #4 fuel oil, #6 fuel oil, used motor oil, and lubricating oil)
- Semi-volatile organic compounds
- Metals (including lead, arsenic, chromium, and mercury)
- Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
- Pesticides
- Herbicides, and
- Inorganic materials, such as nitrate, ammonia, and other landfill indicator parameters

Pilot Testing
Depending upon the project or property, pilot and bench-scale testing of one or more alternatives can help define effectiveness of a certain remedial method to address project-specific conditions.
- Soil excavation with on-site treatment, on-site reuse, or off site disposal or recycling
- Large-scale soil mixing using earth augers or rotary mixers
- Soil vapor extraction using a variety of vapor treatment alternatives, including internal combustion, thermal oxidation, catalytic oxidation, and granular activated carbon
- Air sparging using compressed air or ozone injection
- Ground water recovery using a variety of treatment alternatives, including air stripping, granular activated carbon, ultraviolet oxidation, and ion exchange
- High vacuum/dual phase/multi phase extraction
- Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (NAPL) extraction using active or passive technologies
- In-situ chemical oxidation using a variety of oxidant technologies, including sodium or potassium permanganate, modified Fenton’s Reagent, and sodium persulfate
- Augmented in-situ bioremediation using a variety of nutrient and/or microbial additions under aerobic or anaerobic conditions
- In-situ thermal remediation (thermal treatment or desorption)
- Containment cells and stabilization walls using reactive or non-reactive materials
- In-situ soil stabilization
- Vapor barriers using polyethylene membranes or epoxy coatings
- Sub-slab depressurization systems underneath building using active or passive systems, and
- Surface scarification or washing to remove chemicals embedded in building construction materials.
